For India, Russian barrels have become a critical supply line and an important hedge against Middle Eastern supply disruptions caused by the West Asia war. India has increased its imports of Russian oil to 2.7 million barrels per day in July from 1.2 mbd in January and now accounts for 50 per cent of India's oil needs.
